Why did I chose this piece?
The reason why I chose this piece is for the fact that this piece breaks down how the stress devolves over time and also how it can affect your personal life/health with science facts.
How it connects to the social issue in the novel
This report relates to my social issue in my novel because in the novel the main issue revolves around jobs stress and the narrator has to go to multiples rehab groups in order fix the problem. The jobs stress lead the narrator to have my health issues such as insomnia and symptoms of feeling tired almost everyday.Friday, 6 March 2015
Retell, Relate & Reflect: The Boy In the Striped Pajamas
Retell
"The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas" movie takes place during the World War 2 era when a eight year old German/Nazi boy named Bruno and his family moves from Berlin to a house near a Jewish concentration camp, the reason why the family moved from Berlin to the new house is that Bruno's father (Ralif) was appointed be the officer of that concentration camp. Before moving to the new house, life was good for Bruno as he had many friends to play with and play many games with them such as pretending to be fighter pilots. When Bruno and his family moved into the new house he did not like due to the fact that he friends at Berlin. Soon after Bruno went to his bedroom and seen a window and as he see's through it he noticed that people were working from what he thinks is a farm but actually it is a Jewish concentration camp. As the movie progressed Bruno father decided that it would be wise to setup a tutor for him and his sister (Gretel) for the fact that there was no school by. The tutor starts to brainwash both Bruno and his sister by showing them Nazi propaganda and also tells them how the Jewish people are like rats that want to take over the German economy. Then one day Bruno went his sisters room and seen that all of toy dolls where not there but replaced with Nazi propaganda. Suddenly he asks his sister "where did all the toy dolls go?" and she replies back "toy dolls? Toys dolls are for children, I'm a big girl now and I admire what the solders are doing for our country". This did not make sense to Bruno because that Jewish people that his tutor was talking about did not match up to the Jew that he seen which was the house servant. The next day Bruno was play outside with his soccer ball until it went over guards of his house. He soon went to get it until he see a a trail in the forest. As he walking he a see a boy named Shmuel wearing from what he thought were blue and white striped "pajamas" but was actually a uniform that the Jews had to wear in the concentration camp behind a fence wrapped with barbed wire. Bruno walks up to Shmuel and asked him what are you doing?, Shmuel replied "where building a new hut". As the conversation continued Shmuel asked Bruno if he had a food, then Bruno replied "No, but I will bring some food next time". As time past by Bruno started to visit Shmuel more frequently and not just bringing him food but also brought bored games with him and soon became good friends. One day Bruno and Shmeul were playing a bored game when Bruno asked if he could come in and join Shmuel at concentration camp, and Shmuel was said: "Sure that only if you give me something to eat" and Bruno happily agreed. The next day Bruno made a sandwich and packed it into his bag. When no one was looking he ran through the trail, unfortunately the sandwich that he packed for Shmuel fell out when he was running. When Bruno arrived he dug a hole under the fence and crawled under it. Once Bruno got back up he changed into the blue and white striped "pajama's" but when Shmeul asked for the food Bruno said "I'm sorry it probably fell out when I was running" and Shmuel didn't mind it. Then Shmuel started to show around the place until they were commanded to get into the nearest hut by a concentration officer. At home Bruno's mother (Elsa) couldn't find Bruno in the house and became increasingly worried, suddenly she told his father who was in middle of a conference and stated that Bruno was not at home. Bruno father immediately called the guards to search for him until his mother and sister see the sandwich on the ground scattered, she cried out:" Ralif over here! Over here!". Ralif came and gave the dog the scent and whole family ran through the forest and seen Bruno's cloths right beside the hole he dug under the fence. In the mean time Bruno and Shmuel were told that they were going to take a "quick shower" and him and the other Jews were escorted out of the hut and before entering the gas chamber were told to take off their clothes.Bruno and Shmuel holed hands together in the gas chamber just before the lights went out and the gas was poured. Ralif still desperately finding Bruno rushed into the gas chamber and realized that he was too late because the Nazi solder had already poured the poisonous gas into the chamber killing everyone in it. The movie ends by showing the Jews uniforms and slowly fading away into the blackness.
Reflect
This movie was very emotionally challenging due to that fact that the movie had grab viewers intention every quickly from the beginning. The movie had shown that the Jews during that time had faced alot harmful thing such as the holocaust. This movie intentions wasn't really give a viewer another boring history lesson but to create a movie that had two characters from each side to have a friendship but with a twist.
Relate
The movie was very realatable in many ways to my own personal life. In the movie the Jew's faced many nasty things like racism, and discrimination and many cultures yet today to face the same things such as Muslims.

Summarizing
the three most important parts so far that I have read so far is that the main character ( that is unnamed) tells us about how he met his friend Tyler and 3 things about him. He tell us that Tyler works in a theater where he tries to put porn into children movies. he also tell us that he goes around the country looking for more jobs. And the last thing he tells us about is his other job: determining if a vehicle recall is worth it. Near the end of the chapter he tells us that he met Tyler at a naked beach.
Questioning
1) why would Tyler put a gun in his mouth then start talking about guns etc
2) why would Marla join a testicular cancer club when shes not even a guy?
3) why would bob goes to every person, hug them and then start crying
Connections
Some connections that I made with the book Fight Club is when bob goes to every person hugs them and then cry, this reminds me of my aunt because he would cry over any thing!!! another connection that I made with the book is when the main character says he has insomnia I can relate to that because for me its really hard to sleep. And the last connection that I have with the book is how Tyler tries to porno in to children movies, this automatically reminded me of quagmire from

family guy because he the type of person that would do something like this.

Child Solders
Child Solders
Connections:
While I was watching the video it came to a part when he said he was forced to join the army at a young age and it reminded me of conscription during World War 1 & 2, also the both the military and the rebels preferred the young kids to fight the civil war because as young kids they can easily be manipulated and they were cheap ( they didn't have to buy them uniforms, pay them any salary etc.).
Challenges:
The part that I want to challenge is when he went to the military base why couldn't he tell the people over there to send him to another county with his family members so they can escape the war and start a new life.
Concepts:
Key Idea that is worth holding from the text is that we shouldn't use children in wars because they could get traumatized and they can also change their way of thinking because of the war atmosphere that's around them
Changes:
The changes in the text were gradually evolved throughout the story that was being told because the supporting sentences had the readers intention, and slowly building up the emotions.
